Lord Aikins Adusei:
Africa needs a new crop of leaders to critically address the economic, political and social problems confronting the continent. For many decades the continent has been dominated by self styled demagogues who have done little to improve the economic situation of the people living on the continent and it is time for everyone who has the continent and its people at heart to begin to call for political reform to pave the way for a new crop of leaders to lead the continent. There is the need for a need crop of leaders who will aggressively put in place economic policies that will create jobs, create new class of entrepreneurs and build the continent for all to benefit.
I have always wondered why Africa is in a state where it is today and have come to conclusion that the current leadership is part of the problem.I do you think the current leadership in Africa are addressing the socio-economic problems facing the people. If people who are put in charge to help develop their countries end up developing themselves thereby leaving the people to fend for themselves then there is the need for a peaceful and democratic means to replace them.
It is totally unacceptable that majority of the people continue to live on less than two dollars a day despite rich resources. The failure of the current leadership to improve the socio-economic condition of the people calls for a peaceful and democratic change in leadership.
It is also unacceptable that many of leaders who have spent decades in power continue to manipulate the constitution of their countries in order to stay in power. The life-long president mentality in some African countries is slowly pulling the continent and its people back into socio-economic decay and it is time for that to change.
