BNI Boss Still Refuses To Appear In Court Despite Judge's Warning To Issue Bench Warrant

The Director of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) Mr Yaw Donkor, again failed to show up in court today to respond to a suit filed against him by a former Minister of Information, Mr. Stephen Asamoah –Boateng and his family.

This is in spite of a threat issued by the trial judge that he will issue a bench warrant for the BNI Director's arrest should he fail to appear before the court.

The plaintiff, Mr. Asamoah -Boateng and his family dragged Mr. Yaw Donkor and two other security officers, Yaw Abrokwa and Josephine Gandayiri to court for preventing them from travelling.

Asabee and family are arguing that they were stopped from travelling by security operatives without an arrest warrant and when no criminal charges had been preferred against them.

The former Information Minister and his wife Zuleka Asamoah Boateng and two sons were about to board a British Airways flight for United Kingdom when they were stopped.

At Thursday's proceedings, Mr. Asamoah Boateng and his wife were also not present in court but their Lawyer, Nene Amegatcher prayed the court to grant him some time to discuss some issues pertaining to the case with his clients.

The court consequently adjourned the case to the 22 July 2010.
