The National Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Otiko Djabah Afisa, has reminded the ruling government that power is transient and therefore should be mindful of their treatment of members of the opposition since the same rod of measurement will be used against when their tenure ends.

Sharing her comments on the Ghana@50 ruling, as a panelist on ‘Kokrokoo’ hosted by Kwami Sefa-Kayi, she recalled that during the Ghana@40 celebrations, no controversies were brought up neither did “the NPP behave like the way the NDC is behaving now;” that is, “arresting people anyhow,” and warned the ruling government “to be careful because whatever they are doing in power, when they go out, the same thing can be applied to them,” she said.

Her comments followed a ruling by an Accra Fast Track High Court which struck out and discharged Chief Executive Officer of the former Ghana@50 Secretariat, Dr. Wereko-Brobby and the ex-Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the said anniversary of charges of causing financial loss to the state in the organization of the Ghana@50 celebration.

According to Mrs. Afisah Djaba, the NDC made a lot of promises prior to the 2008 General Elections, which they have unfortunately not been able to fulfill, and are just finding ways of going around it, adding that she feels the “Sakawa in the NDC is too much.”
