Ursula: NDC Is the Cause Of CPPs Disintegration

Vice President of FIDA International and Women’s Rights Advocate, Ursula Owusu.     Related Stories     Vice President of FIDA International and Women’s Rights Advocate, Ursula Owusu, is blaming the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the disintegration in the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and the Nkrumaist front and has asked the party to shape up or shape out. According to her, Nkrumah’s legacy for a vibrant CPP has not been fulfilled because NDC has taken some 90% of its members. Ursula’s comments comes in the wake of reports that a former flagbearer of the CPP is highly disillusioned and deeply disenchanted at the lack of a united Nkrumaist front Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on “Kokrokoo”, declared that unless the CPP and the People’s National Convention (PNC) merge, he will not be part of the CPP’s activities in the 2012 elections. According to Dr. Nduom, the only thing that would compel him to continue to be part of the CPP was when members of the two parties in the regions and constituencies ignored the leadership and merged into one party. An exasperated Dr. Nduom said he found it difficult to comprehend why the CPP and PNC, both strong adherents of Nkrumah’s principles; have failed to form an alliance and proffered that there could be some detractors masterminding “We all have Nkrumah’s ideologies but I can’t say why the union has not yet been done; even after several researches…I cannot rule out some people working behind the scenes and ensuring that the two parties never merge,” he added. But contributing to a panel discussion on PeaceFM’s “Kokrokoo”, the staunch NPP activist posited that “if Nduom had not gone solo in 2008 and if it had maintained their electoral alliance with the NPP, the CPP would have had 4 or 5 members in parliament.” She urged them to critically analyze what really went wrong for the party, put their house in order and focus on the right direction since the ‘unity talks’ seems not to be working.
