Betty Mould never authorized Woyome payment –lawyer

Betty Mould Iddrisu Counsel for the former Attorney General Betty Mould Iddrisu is adamant his client never authorized the payment of GHS 51 million to business man Alfred Woyome. Nana Ato Dadzie told Joy News a December 9, 2010 letter signed by his client and forwarded to the Finance Ministry cannot by any stretch of the imagination constitute an instruction to pay the judgment debt to Alfred Woyome. The Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye Tetteh who is facing prosecution had cited the controversial letter averring that the letter directed the finance ministry to pay the entire GHS 51 million, contrary to the court directive that GHS 17 million be paid. Mr Nerquaye Tetteh also stated that Mrs Iddrisu had told him that the letter was brought to her attention by the Chief of Staff. But in a reaction, Nana Ato Dadzie who is lawyer for Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu said that letter is clear and cannot form the basis on which any payment will be made. According to him, the letter was only a proposal sent to the Finance Ministry “as part of a whole discussion.” Asked what proposal that was, Mr Dadzie said it was a proposal offered by Woyome and his counsel after a pre-trial attempt at settlement had been entered into with the state. He said the letter which read "proposal pursuant to the pre-trial directive" cannot in anyway indict Betty Mould Iddrisu in the controversial saga.
