Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Ex-President John Kuffour's Charge to the Church

Mr John Agyekum Kufuor, former president, has urged churches to mobilise resources for the physical development of their members to benefit the nation in general.

He stated that churches, by their population and material resources, were in good positions to initiate viable socio-economic projects meant to improve the living standards of people especially the needy and the poor.

This was contained in a speech read on his behalf by Mr Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Member of Parliament for Kwabre West, at the opening of the 12th annual Synod of the Effiduase Diocese of the Methodist Church at Agogo in the Asante-Akim North municipality on Friday.

The four-day synod was on the theme: “Ebenezer”. Bosompra Kufuor lauded the Methodist Church for being pace setters in terms of development programmes such as promoting education, health, agriculture and morality.

He appealed to Christians to partner stakeholders in maintaining discipline and order in society in the wake of the high rate of indiscipline, crime and other vices, especially, among the youth.

The former president donated GH¢500 towards the synod.

In a welcoming address, the Right-Reverend Samuel Agyemang-Kwakye, Methodist Bishop of Effiduase, underscored the importance of evangelism and said it is what propels church growth.

He, therefore, asked the leadership of the church to intensify the propagation of the gospel to win more souls for Christ.
