Mr. Asiedu Nketia claims elements of the opposition NPP are trying to create an impression that there is a split in the NDC when the reality is the contrary.
According to him, the NPP is behind the media attention that Mr. Raphael Cubagee’s splinter Real group, Democratic People’s Party is receiving.
The Real Democratic Patriotic Party (RDPP), a new political party, purported to be a breakaway from the NDC by some disgruntled members of the party, was launched in the Brong Ahafo Region on Monday September 13.
Mr Cubagee, the National Coordinator of the RDPP says the party is to be rooted on the ideology of NDC founder and Former President Jerry John Rawlings whom he says has been demonized by members of the NDC.
Speaking to Citi News on Wednesday September 15, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the NPP is seeking to replicate the chaos that befell them recently when one Mr. John Addai split from the United Front Party with the support of sympathizers of twice-failed NPP Flagbearer aspirant Alan Kyeremanten.
He added that Mr Cubagee is not regarded as a serious person by the people of the Brong Ahafo Region and does not deserve the media hype being that he is receiving.
“There is no splinter group as far I am concerned, there is no splinter group, Cubagee has been dismissed from the party long ago when he contested as an independent candidate, he has since not been re-admitted properly so I am not surprised about what he is doing. He has been involved in so many scandals that even if he were a member of the party, we would have dismissed him by now. He has insulted all the traditional rulers of Sunyani which resulted in traditional sanctions and all that”.
“I don’t think he deserves the kind of media hype that people give him but I am not surprised because NPP has been split so they will be interested in hyping anything that will appear in replicating what they are suffering in NDC…when it comes to elections we shall see whether they can hide their split by hyping anything within NDC”.
“As far we concerned NDC is solid, the founder has absolutely nothing to do with what Cubagee stands for. I am very surprised about the media hype because nobody in the Brong Ahafo Region takes Cubagee serious”.
