Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffour has commended investigative journalists, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, for his latest expose of graft, pilfering and plain stealing going on at the Tema Port.

He has promised to “use all the necessary administrative and legal means to retrieve every pesewa lost to the state through the nefarious and unscrupulous activities of some CEPS, GPHA, other institutions and individuals indicted in the footage.”

Any officials found to have engaged in conducts that amount to subverting the state and undermining its revenue mobilizations efforts, the Finance Ministry said, will “not only face disciplinary action but would be handed over to the criminal investigations arm of government for prosecution.”

Anas and a team of investigators working for the New Crusading Guide newspaper, produced a one-and-a-half hour video footage of widespread bribe taking and deliberate tampering of the IT systems at the port for personal gain.

The team claims hundreds of millions of dollars were lost to the state as a result of the connivance of some officials of the Customs Excise and Preventive Service with businessmen and women to evade tax.

A statement issued by the ministry and signed by the Media Liaison, Abdul Hakim Ahmed, promised that the government will “seek legal administrative advice to review the activities of institutions like the GPHA (Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority) and Destination Inspection Companies including GCNET.”

The statement said a committee has been set up to look into the findings contained in the footage and appealed to the judiciary and the security agencies to help ensure that officials working for the state and yet stabbing it in the back answer for their misdeeds.

WHAT DID YOU SAY, MR MINISTER??????
Posted By: Ebo Mends

Oh nonsense, Mr. Minister of Finance! I'm actually tempted to say "fuck you"!!

Have you no sense of shame and guilt?????

Have you been living under a rock all your life in Ghana???

Who doesn't know this Mr. BIG Hypocrite Minister? If you really want to do it, please start from your ministry. There is graft everywhere in Ghana, and probably starts from the zip of your pants all the way to your back pocket. You guys really take Ghanaians and Ghana for fools.

1. What happened to the border Guards Anas exposed? Govt. Prosecuters simply failed to turn up in court, and all the accused were let go. How much bribes didn't these accused persons pay to your very corrupt prosecuters?

2. What happened to the biscuit factory on spintex Road? A few weeks when all got quiet again, they re-started producing maggot and rat-shit-infested biscuits for Ghanaians to eat.

3. What happened to the Psychiatric hospital after Anas' expose? Just last week there was another sad documenatry about the same place, all over again. this is even after the President of the nation went there for inspection!!!!!!!!

4. What happened to the passport officials who prossessed over a hundred passports for Anas in a single day, collecting sacks of money for bribe?

I can go on and on and on till the very tongue inside you the minister's mouth is pulled and dried in the sun. You guys really take Ghanaians for ***and ***, and nothing less. I'm burning with anger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
