Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante Kingdom

Residents in Kumasi are calling for an immediate resolution to the ensuing chieftaincy conflict reviving between Asanteman and Bonoman.

This follows Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's verbal threat to deal with Techimanhene [Techiman-chief] for allegedly harassing Tuobodomhene [Tuobodom-chief] for paying allegiance to the Asante Kingdom.

Techimanhene Oseadeeyo Ekumfi Ameyaw is said to have demanded Tuobodomhene pays allegiance to him instead of Otumfuo since he considers Tuobodom as part of his territory because it falls under the Brong Ahafo Region.

Tuobodomhene's refusal to grant the wish of Techinmanhene is said to have triggered a violent clash between the two which resulted in the lost of many lives and the subsequent kidnapping and arrest of Tuobodom hene who was charge of attempted murder of Techimanhene two years ago.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu deems the situation as an abuse of power and human rights and calls for the removal of the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, the Police Commander.

Many residents in Kumasi in an interview with Nhyira Fm's Kofi Asante though condemn both Techimanhene and Asantehene's comment, calling for urgent measures to resolve the issue before its escalades; bearing in mind the history of rivalry between Asante's and Bono's.
