The police say they are in firm control over activities surrounding the arrest of New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong.

The administration has denied reports two people have been killed in the ensuing melee between supporters of the NPP and the police.

Police acting Director of Communications Cephas Arthur told Joy News no death has been recorded at the HQ.

He said the police are on top of the situation at the Headquarters.

Dozens of the NPP supporters massed up at the Police Headquarters protesting the arrest of the NPP MP who has been detained at the BNI over comments he made on Oman FM, Friday.

The supporters pelted the police with stones after the MP was whisked away in a van.

The police also fired rubber bullets, water cannons to ward-off the rampaging supporters.

The situation was said to have reached an alarming proportion but Cephas Arthur insisted the police is firmly in control.

He also denied reports that Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, deputy Communications director has been arrested.

He could not however confirm if anybody was injured at the HQ
