Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Nine more resign at National Service Secretariat

Latest report says nine more workers at the National Service Secretariat (NSS) are reportedly resigned over the managerial and administrative style of its Executive Director, Vincent Senam Kuagbenu.

This brings to 14 the number of resigned workers in solidarity with the entire staff of the accounts department who resigned due to the dismissal of an account officer Mr. James Osei Kwadwo on Wednesday.

Asempa News reports that the resigned workers included the Deputy Executive Director in charge of operations, Nii Laryea Squire, and Deputy Executive Director in charge of Finance and Administration, Solomon Osei-Wusu. Others are George Gado of the NVS, Imoro Gado of the PPME, Fiifi Asubonteng of the IT Department. The rest are Ferdinand Obeng of the PR department, Ernest Oboubi of the IGF department, Alhassan Tampuli of the HR department and Gloria Baidoo of the Estate department.

Their letter was copied to the Ministers of Education and Finance, the Board of the NSS, the Public Services Commission, the Controller and Accountant General, the Auditor General and All Regional Directors of the National Service Scheme.

Meanwhile, information available to Asempa News indicates that the Education Ministry is making frantic efforts at resolving the impasse at the National Service Secretariat.

It will be recalled that the entire account staff numbering five, including the Chief Accountant William Zoogah, tendered in their resignation in support of Osei Kwadwo James an accounts officer dismissed by the Executive Director.

Some members of staff who spoke on condition of anonymity to Asempa News complained of constant threats of dismissal by Vincent Senam Kuagbenu even when there is no wrong committed.

They disclosed that earlier this week, another member of staff was dismissed for no apparent reason. When Asempa News made contact with Mr. Vincent Senam Kuagbenu the acting Executive Director of the National Service Scheme he declined to comment on these allegations.
