Kuffour Hands over Keys to the State
Accra, June 9, GNA - Former President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday handed over keys to the office that he had been occupying since leaving office to the state.
This followed a request from the National Security on Monday night that they needed access to the office on Tuesday morning whilst arrangements were made to provide him with an alternative, a statement issued in Accra by Mr Frank Agyekum, Press Secretary to the former president said.
"At about 0900 hours, officers of the National Security called to collect the keys which were surrendered later by the former Secretary to the President," the statement said.
The statement said vehicles assigned to him on the day of the swearing-in ceremony by the VVIPU and State Protocol were ordered to be removed from his house about a month later by National Security.
President Kufuor's occupation of the office near the State House triggered a huge debate, with a group of youth from Ga asking him to vacate and National Security also said the House belonged to them.
