The company, Mabey and Johnson and its Directors, were convicted after pleading guilty to the offence on Friday, September 25, 2009. A statement signed by Mr J.H. M. Newman, Chief of Staff in Accra said the directive was to inform a course of action on the matter to include investigations in Ghana.
It said; "the directors pleaded guilty to making corrupt payments to certain Ghanaian public officials."
The statement said "President Mills has instructed the Attorney-General, Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu, to request for detailed information from the authorities in the United Kingdom about the matters that have now resulted in the conviction."
"This is to inform a course of action on the matter to include investigations in Ghana." It reiterated President Mills' commitment to ensuring the highest standards of integrity, probity and transparency in the conduct of public officials, including the President himself.
