| | | The constant call on President Mills by his own party functionaries demanding for a faster pace of delivery in meeting the needs of Ghanaians, seems to go on unabated.
Quite recently, a leading member of the NDC and former minister under Jerry John Rawlings, Ekwow Spio Garbrah, accused President Mills of frittering away the government’s goodwill.
In a scathing article in the Friday, September 18, 2009 edition of the Daily Graphic, Dr Spio Garbrah believed President Mills was derailing the NDC’s political fortunes in the 2012 elections by woefully failing to meet the expectations of Ghanaians and most importantly, ordinary members of the party, and asked him to speed up.
Now an NDC Youth Group, calling itself Business Supporting Business Association (BSBA), based in Darkuman-Kokompe, a suburb of Accra, is also making a passionate appeal to President Mills to speed the country’s development.
Speaking in an interview with PEACEFM News@6pm, Mr. Joseph Annang, General Secretary to the group, said the NDC government has only four (4) years as laid down in the constitution to deliver on its promises, but sadly, in its “ninth month of administration, President Mills has not done enough to merit the party’s chances of being retain in power in the 2012 General Elections.”
“If government has anything good to offer, it should be delivered now and not when they are in their fourth year, as Ghanaians will accuse them of doing so to seek re-election,” he advised.
According to Mr. Annang, inasmuch as Ghanaians, are witnessing severe social economic challenges, been faced by the Government, as a result of the mismanagement of the economy by the previous administration, the high unemployment rate is still a growing cause for concern.
Though known to made up of mainly supporters of NDC King-pin, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, the BSBA said it is with with the best of intentions that they are making the call.
Mr. Annang, however, did not discount the possibility of Dr. Spio-Garbrah continuing with the work of President Mills after 2012.
“President Mills should act fast and start developmental projects for Spio-Garbrah to continue in 2012, since by that time, he (Prez Mills), will be too tired to lead the party,” he stated.
