More heads roll at school feeding secretariat

Four officials of the School Feeding Programme have so far been axed.

Three deputies to the sacked Head of the School Feeding Programme have also been sacked.

They are the Director for Monitoring and Evaluation Prof. Yaw Amoateng, Director of Finance and Administration Mr. Solomon Donkor and Director in charge of Operations Mrs. Mary Ansong.

They tell Joy News they were all notified Thursday and asked to vacate their offices on the same day even though no reasons were assigned for the termination of their appointments.

Their axing follows the dismissal of their boss, Michael Nsowah three days ago.

Local Government Minister Mr Yileh Chireh has confirmed taking the action but will not explain or give further details.

Meanwhile, his deputy Elvis Afriyie says government is restructuring the program to stop unscrupulous persons from abusing it.

He was responding to concerns by the Committee for Joint Action that government was not doing enough to sanitize the program.

“I can assure the whole nation that some very progressive measures would be put in place. I recognise some of the suggestions that have been made by the CJA and these same suggestions and recommendations have been made by the committee,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional administration of the School Feeding Programme has warned that caterers who have reportedly defied a court injunction stopping them from cooking are doing so at their own risk.

Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, Ernest Brogya Genfi, said any caterer who goes ahead to cook would be in contempt of court whilst the court
