Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Minority: Re-Assign Cletus Avoka

The Minority in Parliament is asking President Mills to re-assign the Interior Minister, Hon. Cletus Avoka, because they “are not convinced of his impartiality and neutrality in the Bawku Conflict.” This was contained in a statement read by the former Deputy Minister for Defence and MP for Akropong, Hon. William Ofori Boafo, on behalf of the minority at a press conference in Accra, today 15th Sept., 2009.

Pictures of guerrilla gangs enthusiastically practicing shooting was shown to the press during the function. Hon. Boafo said, the wielding of G-3, AK47 assault rifles among other sophisticated weapons, by these guerrilla gangs, clearly suggest, that the weapons were from the security agencies. “Where from these rifles which is not sold to anybody apart from the state?" he asked.

The Minority therefore implored the National Security to take stock of their arms from 2007 up to date. They also condemned the arrest of some eleven NPP faithfuls in Bawku by the Police, and described the action "as uncalled for." The eleven were reported to have been kept in custody for more than five days without prosecution, exceeding the 48 hours deadline, stipulated in the constitution.
