Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

UG turns down applications of over 8,000 qualified students

The University of Ghana (UG) has turned down applications of over 8,000 qualified students due to limited facilities and staff.
Over 24,000 applications were received for admissions into the university for this academic year, but the university offered admissions to a little over 16,000 applicants.
Vice Chancellor, Professor C.N.B. Tagoe, has described the decision to turn down the applications of these qualified applicants as painful. Addressing a matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students at Legon, Professor Tagoe asked the students to refrain from deviant behaviours that could lead to their dismissal from the university.
"Currently, matters pending before the disciplinary committee include one in which students - including a few who were in their first year - went about defaming individuals within the university through...unfounded allegations.
"I do hope that as fresh students you will steer clear of such waywardness. The university will soon start investigating several allegations of the sale of beds by students, including freshers, who were given prior considerations by the university but have turned round to sell or sublet beds."Those caught to have indulged in this will be summarily dismissed," the Vice Chancellor warned.
