Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

The Tema Communication Directorate (TEMCOMDI) of the National Democratic Congress said it had taken the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) too long to embark on the demolition exercise within the metropolis.

It has, therefore, asked the Engineering Department of the assembly to ensure that all illegal and unauthorized structures were pulled down without any further delay.

A statement issued by TEMCOMDI and signed by Mr Foster Kwakye Asante and Mr Ebenezer Tetteh Otoo, Coordinator and Secretary respectively, expressed the hope that this would save both the TMA and the developers some money.

It reiterated the call on prospective developers in the metropolis to, in their own interest, acquire the requisite building documents from the appropriate authorities before embarking on any development project.

The statement reminded them that no matter how long it took them to put up structures at unauthorised places, the law would one day catch up with them.

It said the assembly's decision to undertake the demolition exercise was a collective one by members and therefore reminded individuals criticizing the exercise that their action was an affront to the TMA.

It therefore urged the critics to reconsider their stance since the exercise was in the best interest of majority of residents in the metropolis.
