Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

The acting Joy News editor Ato Kwamena Dadzie has broken his silence on a recent charge of causing fear and alarm brought against him by the police.

Following his refusal to name persons who were allegedly threatened for opposing the STX housing deal, Ato Kwamena Dadzie was charged with the offence.

The acting editor told Joy FM’s Kweku Obeng-Adjei that the incident was unfortunate, and also revealed his passion for his motherland, Ghana.

He said he had always supported projects that would not only benefit a selected few but the entire citizenry, adding that deals such as the STX are heartrending.

“This whole deal [STX]is going to end up like it did under the Kufuor administration where similar projects where embarked upon but eventually we learnt that some, if not most, of the housing units that were put up had gone to people affiliated to the NPP, and I think that is pathetic. But that is our country and it breaks my heart.”

He also debunked speculations that he has been dismissed by the Multimedia Group Limited, owners of Joy FM, after he took a week off in the heat of the charge. The charge of causing fear and alarm has itself come under barrage of criticisms.

“I don’t think I have been sacked…well I have not been told anything that I have been sacked,” he stressed.

He said he would continue to do what he enjoys doing best – making his views known, whether critical or not.

The full interview would be aired on Joy FM Sunday, August 01, 2010 at 6.15pm.
