NDC Thugs Attack NHIS
Police in Goaso have arrested two persons for illegally locking up the offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the town. Some youth, believed to be sympathisers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are reported to have matched to the NHIS Secretariat in Goaso to push for the removal of the District Scheme Manager.
The two were picked up early Thursday after police investigations revealed they led the youth to perpetrate the illegal act. Goaso District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwabena Bediako said the other perpetrators would be pursued and arrested. This is one of several such attacks that supporters of the ruling party have been accused of engaging in since the new administration assumed power. A group of young men in Ashaiman recently took charge the main lorry station in the town, citing mismanagement.
The incident followed an earlier clash between supporters of the two major parties over the ownership of a public toilet in a suburb of the town. The situation has not been different in Tamale where disagreements between NDC and NPP supporters have torched off violent clashes that led to injuries. The Minority in Parliament have in earlier press conferences lashed out at the ruling government for failing to call such miscreants to order. Meanwhile police in Goaso have called for calm as investigations into the incident continue.

What type of nation are we building? Anyone can get up and do anything in the name of party politics. It is good that the Police have arrested these criminals and has promised to pursue the rest. We cannot allow thugs and hooligans to take over our dear nation in the name of politics. Those caught in such acts should be severely punished to deter other from taking the law into their own hands.
Political parties must advice their supporters about the dangers of taking the law in to their hands. The parties must also refrain from getting involve anytime one of the thugs is arrested.
