Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

‘Cripple’ disappointed in legal system

Mr. Jonathan Osei-Wusu, the Vice Chairman of Perfector of Sentiments Foundation, an NGO, has criticized a ruling of an Akyem Swedru Circuit Court were two persons accused of attempted murder were acquitted and discharged last Friday.

Mr. Osei-Wusu believes the complainant in the said case, Mr. Godwin Mawusi Manor, was given a raw deal, and has therefore decided to champion his (Manor’s) rights.

The case, which traveled more than eight years and was adjourned for 79 times, had Mr. Godwin Mawusi Manor alleging that his brother and father connived to kill him.

Godwin Manor stated that the attempted murder, he believed was for ritual purposes, has rendered him a cripple as a result of cement blocks which were used to strike him at the waist by the accused persons.

However, the court presided over by Justice George K. Koomson, Friday, found the two defendants not guilty, and therefore acquitted and discharged them; but Mr Osei-Wusu said Manor has been denied justice.

Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Abrabo Program, Mr. Osei-Wusu indicated that the judge found the accused persons not guilty because there was no conspiracy on the part of the accused persons.

He further noted that on the second count, the court admitted that Godwin had suffered an amount of harm but not to the extent that the harm had rendered him a cripple, because there was no medical report to that effect, and therefore based his judgment on that.
