Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Illegal Miners Allegedly Buried Alive

Over 100 illegal miners, popularly known as 'galamsey' are alleged to have been buried alive by AngloGold Ashanti workers in one of their 100 feet mining hole. An alleged victim by name Aziz, disclosed this to Peace FM saying, the AngloGold Ashanti workers' action followed complains that illegal miners were invading their territoryand extracting the company’s mineral.

According to him, they were over 100 but 40 of them escaped through a hole.

In a related development, the Public Affairs Officer (PRO) of AngloGold Ashanti, Sarpong Boateng who spoke to Peace FM dismissed the allegation and said they had never buried anyone alive. “If you are buried alive in a 100 feet hole, will you be alive after one hour?” he inquired.

According to him, the illegal miners sneaked into their mining holes in search of Gold, but knowing that their actions were illegal and could warrant prosecution, they refused to come out from the pit after realizing that the workers had arrived at the location to cover the holes. He added that, they were making these allegations in order to gain public sympathy. In addition, a leading member of the illegal miners identified as Mohammed also dismissed the allegation by his group. He said, “they are lying, they were never buried alive.” He revealed that 40 of them were caught by Authorities of AngloGold but they apologised on their behalf and were released unharmed.”
