Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Haruna Esseku Calls Appiah Menka’s Bluff

Haruna Esseku
Former National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Haruna Esseku, has called the bluff of Mr. Apenteng Appiah Menkah, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party’s Council of Elders.

He told the independent newspaper that he would not retract anything from the interview he granted Citi FM on his views in respect of the party’s flag bearership race and other happenings within the party.
“I am not retracting what I said on Citi FM, because they are views in which I believe,” he told the Independent newspaper adding that, “I don’t see why expressing my views will lead to factionalism in the party.”

According to Mr. Esseku, he has been reliably informed that, Mr. Appiah Menkah and other party leaders have given his former party chairman an ultimatum of seven days to retract certain aspects of his interview with Citi FM or face the wrath of the leadership of the party.

Calling the bluff of Mr. Appiah Menkah, Mr. Esseku said, “this is my belief and who can fault me for it,” he fumed.

Meanwhile, barely a week after The Independent had published that, former National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Haruna Esseku, had stuck his neck out and called for massive support for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the former has reacted.
According to Mr. Esseku, at no point in his interview with Citi FM did he state that, he was calling on all delegates to the NPP delegates’ congress to vote for Nana Akufo –Addo.

Mr. Esseku also denied ever stating in that interview that, Nana Addo is the most popular politician in the country today.Speaking to The Independent in reaction to a banner story published in the Thursday October 1, 2009 edition of the paper, the vociferous former NPP Chairman affirmed that, he however stated his preference for Akufo-Addo as against Mr. Alan Kyerematen and went ahead to add that, he would at all cost vote for him at the party’s congress.

Mr. Esseku said between Nana Akufo-Addo and Mr. Kyerematen, he would throw his weight behind the former in view of his enormous political experience and his role in helping to establish the NPP as well as his role in nurturing it up to this stage.

According to Mr. Haruna Esseku, even though he has clearly stated his preference for Nana Akufo-Addo, as a democrat, he believe that, it is important for all those who wish to contest the flag bearership race of the party to go through congress to secure the nod.
