The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Betty Mould-Iddrisu has indicated that the constitutional review would seek to increase the tenure of the executive arm of government to five years.
She noted that though this review is being done by the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, it was proposed by ex-President Kufuor before he left office.
The A-G noted that the President would swear-in the committee mandated to see to the review process before the year ends.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu explained that the review would take into consideration about 39 articles in the constitution including issues of the death penalty, whether or not majority of ministers should be part of cabinet, whether DCE’s should be appointed and reducing powers of the executive.
Responding to views that the A-G’s outfit is losing a lot of cases, thus portraying a negative image about government, Madam Mould-Iddrisu said the media have not been fair in their reportage since very often, reports about 'defeats' by her outfit make the news while 'successful' ones are hardly reported.
She asserted that “it is not all about winning; it’s also about ensuring that due process is observed,” adding that she is confident in the judiciary’s ability to handle judicial issues.
