Government has reverted to three years the Senior High School education in the country, Joy News can confirm.

According to the Education Minister, Alex Tettey Enyo, the new policy was endorsed as a result of the popular acclamation by participants of the recently held forum on education in the country.

The Kufuor administration increased the number of years for secondary education from three to four, despite a three year proposal by the Anamoah Mensah committee.

Prof Anamoah Mensah was chairman of the educational reform committee constituted by the ex-President.

The NDC in opposition disagreed with the four years and pledged to revert to three if it won power.

In a bid to fulfill its campaign pledge, a forum was organised, to among other things, suggest the number of years feasible for the Senior High School Education in the country.

In an interview with Joy News’ the Education Minister Alex Tettey Enyo said cabinet has accepted the report of the educational forum held this year.

He said cabinet has also requested for an implementation plan to be submitted to it for onward transmission to parliament for consideration.

The three year policy is supposed to take effect from the beginning of the next academic year- September, 2009.
