Supporters of the National Democratic Congress in Bibiani Ahwiaso in the Western Region have locked up offices of some state departments, accusing the heads of sabotaging government’s activities.
The National Disaster Management Organisation and the Information Services Department in the region are the most affected.
John Mensah, a leader of the rampaging youth in an interview with Joy News admitted locking up the offices but denied destroying state property.
He also accused heads of the affected offices of masterminding attacks on NDC supporters during the 2008 general elections.
“We locked the doors but did not destroy anything. In election time, these people ordered some macho men to beat us. Even I was shot with a gun and they are still at the offices working," he complained.
According to him, their action is justified, having used all appropriate channels to draw government’s attention to these saboteurs.
The District Chief Executive of the area, Moses Armah, also confirmed the incident but added that calm has been restored after inviting the police and BNI to intervene.
He denied receiving official complaints from the youth and asked the aggrieved party youth to channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters for redress.
