The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Kwesi Ofori, has said that investigations have already began into the brutal murder by unknown assailants of Kwame Kyei Appenteng-Mensah, 65, the Managing Director of Sunset Industries producers of Le Country Mineral Water. Mr. Appenteng-Mensah, son of the late industrialists, C.S. Appenteng-Mensah of Panbros Salt fame, was reportedly stabbed at the back of his neck at his McCarthy Hills residence in Accra, on Friday night. According to the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Christian Yahunu Tetteh, the MD was found dead at about 9:00am on Saturday July 25, 2009 in his apartment. Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show, DSP Kwesi Ofori assured all Ghanaians that the Ghana Police is heavily equipped to trace the culprits of the murder case. However, anyone with information on the incident should not hesitate but inform the Police Service, as between GH¢2,000 – 20,000 reward awaits informants who will help with information leading to the arrest of the alleged assassins. Meanwhile, the Odorkor police who are in charge of the McCarthy Hill areas, have already started with serious investigations. Also in other development, the elder brother of the murdered Managing Director of Sunset Industries, producers of Le Country Mineral Water, Mr. Samuel Appenteng has confirmed the report that Kwame Kyei Appenteng-Mensah was brutally murdered by unknown assailants at his McCarthy Hills residence in Accra on Friday night. Speaking on his late brother’s death on Peace FM’s Morning Show, “Kokrokoo,” he said his brother’s death was a shocking one because he would usually leave home at 5.00am and return at 9.00pm in the night. Throwing more light on the incident, he said traces found in the house appear to indicate that the assailants might have used a bush road behind the house to enter the apartment where his brother stayed with his house help alone. Mr. Samuel Appenteng disclosed further that, he knew his brother to be a very decent man who he could not imagine would have any such problem with his business partners or employees as to warrant this kind of attack. Meanwhile, he has pleaded with the general public not to rush to any conclusion, but to leave the police to do its investigations. credit:www.peacefmonline.com |
