Mills, Kufuor, Rawlings, And Obama At Table
Visiting US President Barack Obama is expected to meet the two former heads of state, John Kufuor and John Rawlings at a breakfast meeting at the Castle on Saturday. This was made known in Parliament on Wednesday by the Foreign Affairs Minister. Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni said the involvement of the two former heads is part of the welcoming process.
“You cannot conceivably receive an eminent visitor like President Obama of the USA and totally exclude President Kufuor or President Rawlings.” “I can confirm that these two eminent persons are part of a process for the welcome of President Barack Obama,” he hinted. The two former leaders are perceived as not the best of friends and are on record to have lashed out at each other on political platforms. This upcoming event is however not the first time the two are meeting upon the visit of a US President. The two were present at a dinner with Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush when the former US President visited Ghana last year.
Alhaji Mumuni said Mr. Obama will be in the country in the company of his wife and his two daughters. President Obama is expected to visit the La General Hospital and later the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to address Parliament. Mr Obama will also take a tour of the Cape Coast Castle to observe some historical relics, while a public durbar of chiefs and people of the area will also honour Michelle, his wife, with the title of 'Queen".

If possible Kuffour and Rawlings should remove themselves from party politics and focus on matters that are dear to Ghanaian such as unemployment, poor infrastructures and poverty.
