The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Baba Jamal, nearly threw caution to the wind and angrily shot back at an NPP Activist, Otiko Afisa Djaba for wrongly accusing him of having a hand in last year’s election chaos at Akwatia. “If she doesn’t know me, she should mind the way she talks,” he retorted angrily. The verbal altercation occurred this morning when Otiko, who was the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Bole-Bamboi in last year’s election was contributing to a panel discussion on post-election assessment of the Akwatia re-run, alleged that the perpetrators who tampered with some ballot boxes in Akwatia which led to the re-run of the polls were released based on the orders of Hon. Baba Jamal. The remark seemed to have angered Hon. Baba Jamal who called into the programme to outrightly deny Otiko’s allegations. He, however, admitted bailing them, because he believed the allege culprits were innocent and it was his “duty to help them.” The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister cautioned her to be mindful of her choice of words and entreated her to “investigate issues before commenting on them and stop perceiving him as violent.” “I am not a violent person,” he added.
