Shooting in Bawku: One dead!

One person has been shot dead and two others severely wounded in Bawku in the Upper East Region.

The shooting occurred at 19:30 GMT, Joseph, a witness told Joy News shortly after the incident.

Residents reportedly swarmed around the body of the deceased who lay with a bullet wound on his head.

He was identified only as Ganim.

The other two persons, an old man and a woman, have been rushed to the Zibillah hospital.

An hour after the incident, police were yet to arrive at the scene.

Although it is not exactly known what the motivation of the yet-to-be-identified gun man is, suggestions are that the shooting is an offshoot of the long-standing ethnic conflict in the area.
