Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Adamu Dramani, is being investigated for perjury and fraud during the last elections.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service questioned him at the weekend as part of the investigations.

It invited the MP through a letter to the Speaker of Parliament to appear before the police for interrogation at the weekend.

But his lawyer, Egbert Faibille told Joy News his client refused to talk to the police since the issue relating to his nationality was a subject of a court case.

Choosing not to speak to police is allowed under the country’s jurisprudence, the lawyer asserted.

“We are apprehensive that any statement we give may end up in the hands of our opponents to be used against us so we prefer to remain silent,” he explained.

Mr Faibille said after some disagreements with the police, he and his client were allowed to go.

Mr Dramani was declared unfit to hold himself as an MP by an Accra Fast-Track High Court following a suit brought against him by a cattle farmer in Bawku accusing him of holding dual citizenship.

The court's decision was in default of Adamu filing his defense processes, but has since filed a stay of execution while filing his defence.
