Sekou Nkrumah: JJ Is Ghana’s Best Leader Compared To Ex-Prez Kufuor & Prez Mills

Related Stories   A member of the ruling National Democratic Congress and third son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah has stirred further controversy by declaring NDC founder Jerry John Rawlings as Ghana’s best leader, compared to ex president Kufour and current president John Evans Atta Mills. Sekou made headlines on Tuesday, July 13, when he reportedly said in an interview with international magazine, Africa Watch, that President Mills lacks the charisma, dynamism and strong will to lead Ghana. The comments attracted condemnation from several NDC faithful who described his statement as unfortunate and ill intended. Responding to a question on the Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Sekou told Host Shamima Muslim that “Between Rawlings, Kufuor and Mills, taking everything into consideration, I think Rawlings is a better leader.” He expressed worry at perceptions that President Mills is unable to make decisions on his own, noting that “decisions are not made alone but at the end of the day you are responsible for the decision, so you have to be decisive, you have to be strong willed because there could be a lot of opposition.” Dr. Nkrumah had earlier reiterated to Citi News that former first Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings would be a very bad choice for the NDC if she decides to contest President Mills in 2012.   Sekou Nkrumah Dr Sekou Nkrumah in the same interview with the Africa watch magazine noted that Nana Konadu is not the kind of person who can unite the NDC party and the country. “I think Konadu will be a poor choice but if she goes through the democratic process and the party elects her, then we have to accept it. Honestly, Nana Konadu comes a bit too aggressive in her role, and I think a lot of people will not be comfortable with such an aggressive character leading the NDC especially this time”. He however opined that he is confident that many people in the NDC are unwilling to change President Mills for the 2012 elections but warned that allowing Mills to go unopposed will not be in the best interest of the NDC since a new person elected can provide the energy missing in President Mills. Meanwhile, an aide to President Mills, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije has expressed disappointment in Sekou Nkrumah for his media outburst. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije believes Sekou could have used a better platform to get his grievances and observations across instead of using the media to chide the president of the party he belongs. He however disagreed with Sekou Nkrumah on his submission. “Sekou Nkrumah has not worked closely with President Mills so he does not know him well.” He said.     Source: Citifmonline.com/Ghana
