Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

NPP Will Still Lose 2012 Even If It Achieves 100% Cohesion - Pratt

The constant wrangling within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the run-up to the party’s congress to elect a flagbearer on August 7th, has led to the expression of varied shades of opinion and commentary being run by both the media and politicians alike on the apparent deep chasm that has developed between the camp of the two leading contenders, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and Nana Akufo-Addo.

Whiles some are disappointed that the NPP seems not united and ready to wrestle power from the ruling NDC, some even believe the country’s Electoral Commission (EC) deserves tons of praise for holding General Elections without so much as a few eyebrows being raised and spots of electoral disputes.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Managing Director of the Insight Newspaper is in the second category of the people who hold such beliefs.

“if the NPP is having problems with their elections…their voters register, then National Electoral Commission headed by Mr. Afari Djan is doing so well,” he stated during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji.

The staunch Nkrumaist advised the NPP to stay united, avoid splits and convince other people to join their ranks, and even that, he argues cannot guarantee the party success or help them win the 2012 election.

“…even if the party achieved 100% cohesion; it was totally united and all of its members voted for the presidential candidate of their choice, it will not guarantee them victory in the 2012 elections…the path to power must be one which is free of internal wrangling and baseless criticisms,” he stated.
