Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

A youth group aligned to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South district of the Volta Region is accusing the government of abandoning the area after riding on its back to power.

The group calling itself the NDC Youth in Action for Development, demonstrating at Aflao on Friday said the government has failed to carry out any developmental projects in the town since it came to power.

Mengistu Agobia, spokesperson for the group told Joy News' Moses Kanga that roads in the district are bad, there is also the problem of poor market infrastructure that makes it impossible for traders to do business when it rains.

He said even though the attention of the concerned authorities has been drawn to the issue, nothing seems to be happening, justifying it with the decision to hit the street to protest so that “even if our leaders are working, they will testify to the government that what they have been telling them is what the boys are doing now”

Mr Agobia said the youth in the area are jobless because “we don’t have any peculiar job in the district”.

“This is our government, we are for the NDC, if the NDC said Ketu South is their ‘World Bank’ [stronghold] how can they abandon their World Bank?” he queried.

He further stated that the government officials responsible for the district are simply “not good for the job”.
