Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

The Central Regional Propaganda Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a member of the Electricity Company of Ghana board, Ben Allotey Jacobs has described the son of Ghana’s first President Dr. Sekou Nkrumah as a sicklier suffering from the “Sickle Cell” disease.

This follows his (Dr.Sekou Nkrumah) outburst at President John Mills that the first gentleman of the land needed to be in the ‘classroom teaching’, other than governing a developing country like Ghana.

According to Ben Allotey Jacobs who was speaking during a panel discussion on Peace Fm’s “kokrokoo” programme Wednesday morning Dr. Sekou Nkrumah perhaps might be losing his memory looking at how he has described the President’s abilities.

In an exclusive interview in the influential Africawatch magazine, Sekou said President Mills lacks the charisma, dynamism and strong will to lead Ghana and has therefore supported calls for a new NDC candidate to challenge the President for 2010.

In the brutally frank interview, Sekou also said the NDC government had so far failed Ghanaians.

A lot of people see Mills as an academic and a gentleman. But, in the political arena, you need to be strong-minded, and it looks like this leadership quality is missing in Mills.

So I guess we need a more strong-willed, dynamic personality, a charismatic person to inspire national confidence, and also to let the population see the national agenda and feel part of it.” Sekou Nkrumah, who is the National Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council, said “there is the impression that he (President Mills) is not able to make decisions.

Ben Allotey Jacobs told Kwami Sefa-Kayi host of the Programme that, he thought the NDC had favoured the son of the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and deserved some respect from him.
